| NEWS | 01/21/2010 - NAYRHL Welcomes Commissioner Jarrod Wronski I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board and to introduce myself to the families and players of the NAYRHL. My name is Jarrod Wronski and I am the new commissioner for the league. You may have heard me at the Marple Sports Arena during last year's playoffs and the playoffs two years earlier at the same facility, as the P. A. announcer for the games. But that's not all I do. I own and operate a sports announcing and broadcasting company called SportsAnnouncing.com, but I also work with Junior-A and Junior-B ice hockey teams in the Washington, DC area, spent 8 1/2 years working in all aspects of Minor League Baseball, spent two seasons working with the Washington Glory of National Pro Fastpitch and currently work with the Washington Capitals in many aspects. I'm also a Level-II ice hockey official. My hockey career started when I was 15 days old and went to my first Caps game and has lived to see it expand into the inline world. I saw the short-lived Tampa Bay Rollin' Thunder play at the now-demolished Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida; worked with the Virginia Storm of MLRH; announced, ran the scoreboard, scorekept and served as an off-rink official for the first MLRH Euro Fest in Sheffield, England; enjoyed a pair of MLRH championship weekends; and have even been part of the grand opening of The Box in Chantilly, Va. From 2003-2005, I served as the webmaster and media liason for the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League and assisted with the selection of the league's all-star team, playoff games and organized stats for historical purposes. While living in Oregon in 2005, I worked at an amazing facility there called Indoor Goals which was both inline and indoor soccer. I was married in 2008 and my wife and I welcomed our first child in September. He's already got himself and knee hockey arena in our basement, though I really should add a couple of goals! My responsibilities to the NAYRHL to start will be league issues, game play and the playoffs. Other duties will come up and I am currently working on adding more teams in Maryland and Virginia through contacts I've made through the years. My goals for the NAYRHL is to responsibly grow the league by making contacts in new cities and helping to expand inline hockey to more of North America's youth. Feel free to send me an e-mail to NAYRHL@gmail.com. That is the address I use for league issues so please feel free to drop me a line, introduce yourself and tell me a little about your team, rink or anything you'd like me to know about the league. See you around the rinks, Jarrod Wronski, |
