06/29/2010 - 495ers Take Home 10AA Mission Cup

It was another "Winner Take All" match-up that was set-up by the wildest game of the tournament, hands down, as the 495ers outlasted the Lunatics 7-5 to win the 10AA Mission Cup.

The game that set-up the big match-up saw the 495ers jump out to a 9-1 lead in the first 11 minutes.  Then, something wild happened.  The Lunatics struck back with 11 straight goals to take an 11-9 lead.  A lead they would not relinquish.

Owen Connelly led the way offensively for the Lunatics who had six different players score in the contest.  Chris Yonkers had five goals and assists while Justin Steinberg had four goals and two assists for the 495ers. 

The 495ers won the championship as Yonkers scored four times and Alex Winston added a pair to take the final game 7-5.

Sam Steele of the LUnatics led all scorers with 16 goals and 23 assists.  Yonkers was second with 12 goals and Alex Winston of the 495ers had nine.  Connelly's eight assists were tops among 10AA players, followed by Justin Steinberg of the 495ers with seven. 

Points leaders behind Steele include Yonkers (16), Connelly (15), Winston (14) and Steinberg (14).
